Dos Ojos is renowned as the most famous cenote in the world and one of the largest underwater cave systems.
It has been featured in several movies and documentaries, including "Journey into Amazing Caves" (2002) and "The Cave" (2006).
The original cave diving exploration of this extensive system began through these cenotes.
Dos Ojos, meaning "two eyes," gets its name from two adjacent caverns connected by a common area.
These caverns start and end at the same location but offer distinctly different experiences:
The Barbie Line: This section is well-lit with ample light and features spacious areas around massive stalactites and columns. The magnificent formations of stalactites and stalagmites give the impression of nature’s artistry developed over millions of years.
The Bat Cave Line: This section resembles a dark cave with areas of low light, numerous tunnels, and rooms. This line leads to an air-filled bat cave, where you can ascend to observe bats and marvel at the beautiful decorations.
Dos Ojos offers two completely different dives with incredible water visibility, making it a popular spot for both diving and snorkeling.
