Angelita Cenote is one of the deepest cenotes in the Yucatan Peninsula.
Nestled deep within the jungle, this sinkhole is renowned for its unique underground river that flows through its depths.
As you begin your descent, you'll notice sunlight penetrating the water, expanding your field of vision. At around 30 meters, you'll encounter a thick layer of hydrogen sulfide formed from decaying vegetation, separating the freshwater above from the saltwater below.
Passing through this layer feels like skydiving through clouds. Beneath the cloud, you’ll experience complete darkness and see a half-moon-shaped island with trees.
During your ascent, you'll circle around the massive cylindrical cavern.
Angelita is especially famous for its surreal hydrogen sulfide cloud.
Casa Cenote cuts directly through a mangrove swamp, offering a stunning view of this vibrant and colorful habitat illuminated by sunlight.
It is one of the freshwater outlets from the Aktun system to the Caribbean Sea.
The emerald green crystal-clear waters, spectacular lighting effects, and lush mangrove forest create unforgettable memories.
Casa Cenote is teeming with wildlife; the mix of salty and freshwater supports a diverse array of marine life, including blue swimming crabs, green moray eels, barracudas, snapper, and tarpon fish.
The bottom is adorned with huge rocks covered in mosses and green algae. Divers can enjoy navigating through the limestone passages and cracks, adding to the adventure.
